Early this morning after changing our son's diaper, and making sure he was well fed, I sat in front of the TV just trying to wake up, as our son frolicked around. Much to my surprise, I found myself interested in a program on MTV call 4Real. Not really knowing why, other than perhaps the description of the program suggested that it would be taking a look at a gentleman who was affecting real change in Liberia, following its long bout of civil conflict, which lasted approximately 14 years.
This man was attempting to bring to light the plight of the children who suffered the torment of war. These children endured mutilation, homelessness, starvation, the loss of family members, psychological torture, killings, the witnessing of the killing of family members, shear utter fear to the point that these children were asked to kill their own friends; surely you get the point. No child should ever under any circumstances, have to be exposed to such brutality!
The program also brought to light the challenge of those, such as this particular man, who are attempting to bring change to this societal agreement. These children, despite now being much older, still carry with them the diabolic experiences of war that they witnessed or partook in, which on some level implies there is the potential for these children to re-enact the atrocities, unless they are properly counseled, unless they are shown that there is another way!
"Therefore the consciousness of the human race must endure the twists and turns of the concept of Love in order to arrive to this conclusion; that there exists none other than One, and the One, is Love, for Love and with Love."
